The Start of The Communist Party
The nationalists took over China in the early 20th century and was led by a man named Sun Yat-sen and later, Chiang Kai-Shek. The nationalists believed that their nation would benefit from acting independently rather than collectively. Even though the nationalists hated Japan, the communists, which were founded in 1921, were an even bigger threat to the nationalists. The belief of communism is that the state plans and controls the economy and a single authoritarian party holds power and all of the goods are equally shared by the people. The communists were led by Mao Zedong. In the 1900's, China experienced many hardships and battles that revolutionized the government and the people throughout China. Those revolutionary struggles that changed China forever were:
- Shanghai Massacre
- The Long March
- Rape of Nanjing
- Chinese Civil War
- Cultural Revolution
